Mood Swings is the new jazz project of the Canadian bassist Richard

Addison, who from the decade of  80 maintains a selected place

between the musicians of that country.  Initiated under the line of

Progressive Rock, Addison was turning upside down gradually

towards the fusion and jazz, creating in 1990, the group Sojourn, 

his first instrumental band.  Thirteen years later, with a strong

experience, he was ready to form the Addison Project with the recent

debut CD, "Mood Swings".  Addison recreates progressive passages

fused permanently with jazz, where the sax makes an excellent work,

arriving at its maximum expression in "After All", "10h10"  and in

the best title of the album, the homonym "Mood Swings".  The closing

title of the CD (Controlled Freedom) is a pure rag with a languorous

and intimate ballad of the sort that manages and catches the attraction

of the listener which remember at certain similar moments in the

career of the great Astor Piazzolla.

Really, a good CD, that will surely call the attention to those lovers

and followers of the most experimental jazz-prog music, with special

and attractive moments that arrives from the hands of the sax players,

Lauzier and Roy.

“Mood Swings” es el nuevo proyecto jazzero del bajista canadiense Richard Addison, quien desde la década del ´80 mantiene un selecto lugar entre los músicos de aquél país.

Iniciado bajo la línea del Rock Progresivo, Addison fue volcándose paulatinamente hacia la fusión y el jazz, creando en 1990 “Sojourn”, su primer banda instrumental.

Trece años después, y ya con una basta experiencia en el medio, se dispuso a formar la “Addison Project”, lanzando recientemente su álbum debut, “Mood Swings”.

El mismo recrea pasajes progresivos fusionados permanentemente con el jazz, dónde el saxo realiza una labor excelente, llegando a su máxima expresión en “After All”; “10h10” y en el mejor tema del álbum, el homónimo “Mood Swings”.

El cierre del disco es a puro trapo, con balada melosa y intimista propia del género, que logra captar la atracción del oyente, y que hace recordar a ciertos momentos similares en la carrera del gran Astor Piazzolla.

En definitiva, un buen disco, que seguramente llamará mas la atención n aquellos amantes y seguidores del jazz más experimental, pero con un atrayente especial que llega de la mano de los saxofonístas, Lauzier y Roy.
