Le Grand-Bé

" Est-il certain que j'aie un talent véritable, et que ce talent ait valu la peine du sacrifice de ma vie ? Dépasserai-je ma tombe ? Si je vais au-delà, y aura-t-il dans la transformation qui s'opère, dans un monde changé et occupé de tout autre chose, y aura-t-il un public pour m'entendre ? Le Grand-Bé is a very small Island where the author Chateaubriand is buried. When I first went on this island, walking and admiring the scenery, I finally stopped at this place at the top and decided to sit on this tomb and read something on it like: “Un grand écrivain français a voulu reposer ici pour n'y entendre que la mer et le vent. Passant respecte sa dernière volonté.”

I did not know who this was at that time but when I went back to the city of ST-Malo and asked someone who this was, they have told me that was Chateaubriand. I just could not believe that I was sitting on the tomb of Chateaubriand like we sit on a park bench!!
